Training Goals

How to build a character using techniques already learned and mastered in "Patinas of Life" through the different patinas connected to environmental surface features.

Makeup Artists / Intermittent.es du spectacle (French entertainment temporary worker status)

Detailed Programme

Reflection on the stages of character creation.

A thorough descriptive study of the different figurative representations in a cinematographic work, before delving into the formal technical aspects.

Demo: Hands

  • Choice of tools and raw materials
  • Consciously understand and acknowledge techniques to create an artistic work

Practice from the 1st & 2nd groups

Miner’s Dirt / Period Coal

Explanation of the evolution of “surface aspects” according to anatomy, pressure points, and labour movements.
Added to this are fatigue, perspiration, and the effects of dehydration.

Presentation of textures and the different binders

Practice and awareness of the various constraints to overcome

Working with additional layers

1st group: Creation of a coal dirt face and additional corrections.
2nd group: Same as above

Battlefield Dirt

Demonstration: Creation of a “soldier” by the Training Supervisor

Practice and awareness of the various constraints to overcome

Working with additional layers: perspiration, blood, dust, explosion debris

Learn about the pokes and how to contrast materials with thickening and/or liquefying binders.

BANDAGES: Different application techniques on the hands.

1st group: Creation of “Battlefield Dirt” with additional corrections.
2nd group: Same.

Mastering layers: Learn how to create contrasting materials with thickening and/or liquefying binders. Master colour and texture contrasts.

CREATION OF A FULL CHARACTER

Each makeup artist randomly selects a character from three different themes studied throughout the week and creates it.
